"My friends, it is through the establishment of the lovely clarity of mindfulness that you can let go of the grasping after past and future, overcome attachment and grief, abandon all clinging and anxiety, and awaken an unshakable freedom of heart here and now." - The Middle Length Discourse of the Buddha

Our Purpose

The Insight Atlanta meditation group brings together practitioners of vipassana meditation. Vipassana meditation, also known as insight or mindfulness meditation, was taught by the Buddha as a means for investigating the nature of reality through cultivating awareness of present experience with acceptance. The ultimate goal is liberation, which occurs as a result of eliminating suffering caused by the illusions and falsehoods that so frequently arise in the mind. Our goal is to provide a comfortable group environment to support meditation practice and explore the Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha).

Our intention is to become more peaceful, wiser and more compassionate such that we can positively interact with everyone and everything around us. This is a challenging aspiration and it is through the support, wisdom and experience of others sharing this intention that we can seek to achieve our goals.

We invite individuals ranging from beginning meditators to practitioners that have many years of experience. This combination of experience promotes benefits for everyone involved by creating an environment that generates fresh perspective while cultivating profound wisdom. We are happy to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have about meditation or our group. Please contact us if you would like more information. We hope to see you soon!
